The Princes Trust alongside Stockton Riverside College were tasked with improving a community based project for their ‘team challenge’. They approached CC87 to offer their skills and complete their challenge.
The young people from the Princes Trust visited one of our older properties and agreed it needed some TLC. They took some photographs and details of what needed doing and then pitched Dragons Den Style to UK Steel Enterprise and were successful in securing £1,500.00!
The challenge was set over a two week period to decorate the communal hallway, provide much needed new furniture and carpet for the office area. The Princes Trust team agreed colour schemes and furniture styles along with CC87 support workers Stacey Britton and Rachel Woodings.
Over the two week period the team repainted the hallway (this is a three storey Victorian house, so that was a challenge in its self!) and the office. The completed makeover is fantastic and long gone are the magnolia walls, old carpet and dated furniture.
The office has been transformed into a calm, friendly, relaxing environment. It has brand new IKEA furniture, contrasting carpet and a flat screen TV on the wall. This will be used for group educational support sessions for the young tenants currently living in the property and future residents too.
The whole event was celebrated by an end-of-challenge BBQ provided by CC87 for all the Princes Trust team and volunteers involved.
The young people involved in the Team Challenge were Jay, Adam, Sophie, Samantha, Ryan, Natasha, Daniel, Anthony and Princes Trust Volunteer David Richardson and were lead by Team Leader Graeme Ogle.
