Apprenticeships Work
06 February 2015
Sam came to the organisation as a volunteer in January 2012 and was then offered an apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery in April 2012.

Sam says " I enjoy working on the Empty Homes Project because it has helped me gain valuable site experience whilst still being encouraged to go to day release at college and gain my qualifications.

I will be a fully qualified Carpenter and Joiner by July, I enjoy working for Community Campus, it's not just the work, it's all I've wanted to do from being a kid, I'm well pleased with that".

Adam came to the organisation as a volunteer in January 2012 as a Carpenter & Joiner.

Adam says "I knew if I worked hard I would get the chance to work full time but when Community Campus gave 2 of the other volunteer joiners an apprenticeship I decided to change my trade and become a plasterer.  Fortunately, Community Campus supported me and gave me an apprenticeship in Plastering.  I enjoy working on the Empty Homes Project, I've learned lots of new skills and get to attend college, I am now a fully qualified Plasterer and Community Campus have asked me if I want to go on a Supervisors course - isn't that good? It really has changed my life".

Andrew came to the organisation as a volunteer in March 2012 and was offered an apprenticeship in Painting & Decorating one month later.

Andrew says "Working for Community Campus on the Empty Homes Project has allowed me to gain some valuable experience.  I will be a fully qualified Painter & Decorator by July and I feel that I owe a lot to Community Campus and the Empty Homes Project, not just the work but I will be moving into a house we have been working on in a few weeks time so it's happy days for me".

All three of the above apprentices have gained a host of qualifications including Diplomas and NVQ's in their chosen trades and various Health and Safety related qualifications.

Their contribution to the organisation is invaluable and we are extremely proud that we have been a part of their personal and career development.
